Best Farmers' markets in Los Angeles

Going to our local farmers market has become a weekend morning ritual. I love waking up early, plonking my baby in his stroller and rolling to get some goodies with a coffee in hand.

Buying produce at local farmers' market helps us become more intentional about the food we consume. It's not only a great way to support local businesses and artisans, but a delicious way to stay healthy by buying seasoning fruits and veggies.

Here are my top 10 farmers' markets around Los Angeles:

1. Atwater Village Farmers Market

Sunday mornings are a vibe at Atwater Village, and this is of the best famers' markets in East LA (my personal fav!). Surrounded by the funkiest boutiques & cafes, make a whole day of it after you grab your scrumptious coffee, bread, flowers, fruit & veggies from some of the best local vendors and farms around California.

When to go: Open Sunday 9am-2pm (try to walk or car pool if you can!)

2. The Original Farmers Market

This iconic farmers' market can't be missed if it's your first time visiting LA. The Original Farmers Market is one of LA’s most recognizable landmarks, open since 1934. You're not really going here for the produce, but for the ambience, people- watching history, outdoor food court and of-course - Bob’s Doughnuts!

When to go: Open daily, 9am-9pm (try doing during the week to avoid the tourist traffic!).

3. LA River Farmers Market

This is a great weekday option. Even though this farmers' market isn't one of the biggest, you have a large choice of food vendors where you'll find delish delights to snack on while you shop your seasonal fruits and veg.

When to go: Open Thursday, 3pm-7:30pm.

4. Culver City Farmers Market

If you want a fresh mid-week treat, head down to Culver City to get some dinner inspiration. This local gem is buzzing with fresh produce and yummy treats.

When to go: Open Tuesday, 2pm-7pm.

5. Mar Vista Farmers Market

This farmers' market is a whole day feast for your senses with seasonal produce, Afghani goodies, French pastries and a  21-piece jazz band - a great way to spend the day near the water!

When to go: Open Sunday, 9am-2pm.

6. Santa Monica Farmers Market

What can be better than a farmers' market near the beach? For a true Westside LA experience, you have to check out the Santa Monica Farmers Market and its  lineup of famous chefs, vendors and sustainable produce. Try and get there early to grab the good stuff (and for some celeb-spotting!)

When to go: Open Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, 8am-1pm.

7. Noho Farmer's Market

Here you can find produce, clothing, jewelry, cheese and Brooklyn-style bacon (if that's your jam!). A great place to go during the weekend in the Valley

When to go: Open Saturday, 9:30am-2:30pm

8. Hollywood Farmer's Market

You would normally stay clear of venturing into Hollywood if you didn't need to, however if you happen to go, you should definitely try to make the Hollywood farmers' market as its one of the largest markets in LA, with over 100 vendors and farmers!

When to go: Open Sunday, 8am-1pm.

9. Burbank Certified Farmers’ Market

The Burbank Certified Farmers’ Market has been open every Saturday for 40 years, making it one of the oldest Los Angeles farmers markets. This community fav is jam-packed with fresh produce and local finds.

When to go: Saturdays, 8 am to 12 pm

10. South Pasadena Farmers Market

Get off work a smidge early to hang out at the beautiful South Pas's farmers' market. This local fav is full of yummy fruits and veg, plus some treats from local vendors and as Carmela's and Vegas.

When to go: Open Thursday, 4-8pm.
